Latest Model: Nimbus 1001
Known Models: Nimbus 1000, 1001
In 1967, the newly-formed Nimbus Racing Broom Company created the Nimbus 1000, and the broom industry was literally changed overnight. The model was a giant leap forward in broom design, providing breakthroughs in speed, resilience and superb maneuverability.
The Nimbus brooms are known to be prohibitively expensive, with only the extreme wealthy, or those with connections, being capable of affording the top of the line model.
The Nimbus 1000 was the first broom capable of turning 360 degrees at a fixed point and could reach speeds up to a hundred miles per hour. Its said that the broom combined the reliability of the dated Oakshaft 79, the performance of a Comet and the smooth handling of the top of the line Cleansweeps.
The successor to the Nimbus 1000, the Nimbus 1001, provided greater performance and speed. Although this broom was already in the works, the company pushed its release in response to talk of a broom made by Donelle Darkefell, an artificing prodigy who at the time was a student at Hogwarts.
Both Nimbus models were chosen as the International Standard for World Cup competitions and have become the favorite of professional leagues. In response, Comet released the Comet 220 X-El to compete with the 1001, with the latter broom providing slightly less speed but better handling.
