Hogwarts Express MUSH

Latest Model: Comet 220 X-EL
Known Models: Comet 140, 180, 220 X-El (presumably increments of 20)

Founded in 1929 by Randolph Keitch and Basil Horton as competition for the Cleansweep series, a rivalry that continues to this day.

Comet Brooms have a reputation for being more expensive than Cleansweeps, but also happen to be better at braking (sudden slowing) or cornering (maneuverability). However, Comets (particularly earlier models) tend to warp with age likely due to their crafting and thinner broomsticks, a sacrifice made for the better performance. Furthermore, it takes more effort to handle a Comet and their flight is more jerky than the smooth Cleansweeps.

In response to the Nimbus Broom Company's highly-touted Nimbus series, Comet released the Comet 220 X-El. Somewhat less expensive than the cost-prohibitive Nimbus, test flights have shown it to be slightly slower than the Nimbus 1001, but more agile. However, despite appeals from the company, the Nimbus still remains the international standard.
