Seers are those Wizards and Witches gifted with the True Sight, the Inner Eye. They receive uncontrollable visions and may be skilled in other methods of Divination, although that is certainly not a requirement. These are carefully controlled characters; to find out how to apply for the True Sight you can check out "news apps seers."
There are some very specific IC and OOC realities to being a Seer. Take these into consideration when deciding if this is the kind of character you want to play.
IC Realities of Seeing
1. True future visions are rare and they are not always complete. Sometimes the prophecies one receives are slanted, or shown in symbols or fragments of phrase that could be taken in a number of ways. The Sight picks up large, important magical events easier than it does smaller events, even if those events are dire. The Sight varies in strength and accuracy. Sometimes one might get a vision of dire future events in their entirety, sometimes one might not get more than a feeling of foreboding, and sometimes one might get nothing at all.
2. Scrying, or current and past Sight is a rare ability, but does tend to run with True Sight. It may reveal a detail of a character's past or the current location of a character. Scrying tends to be "hit and miss" - sometimes even a very talented scryer will get incomplete or inaccurate information. Scrying can be tiring. A five minute scry is not necessarily labor intensive, but a day long scry might land one in the hospital. Scrying can also be dangerous in its own right, resulting in anything from false visions to madness. It is possible to set up anti-scrying wards to block scrying attempts. Some are passive, and merely seek to prevent the Seer's art from functioning. Others can be far more painful, deadly, or sinister.
3. Methods of divination such as tarot cards, tea leaf reading, crystal ball gazing, etc. might provide some insights, and they may even turn out to be right, but they are not considered "true" sight. While you are welcome to play divination, you should be aware of the limitations of such methods. They are very imprecise and subject to interpretation.
OOC Realities of Seeing
1. Above all, Seer players are expected to keep IC and OOC information separate. Don't have a vision ICly about something you heard about or witnessed OOCly or on another character.
2. All Sight, including Scrying, is a consent-based ability. Having the Sight is not carte blanche to find any character at any time, to find out any detail about any character at any time, or to learn information about a character that a player does not wish to share.
3. True Future Visions come from staff. If you as a Seer want to have a true vision about something, contact one of the RP Wizards. Players who want to use a Seer to help forward a TP must contact the RP Wizards.
4. Staff reserves the right to direct how the Sight functions, particularly in regards to major TPs. Having True Sight doesn't mean everything you see ICly, even if it is a vision you've requested of staff, will actually be true. Seers should be aware of this limitation IC. Sometimes scrying or the Sight will work exceptionally well, but this does not mean that your Inner Eye has grown more powerful.
5. Violation of IC =/= OOC or consent could result in derailing of TPs, retconns, or more serious consequences.
