Hogwarts Express MUSH

Although many magical folk have access to Muggle methods of communication, Wizards and Witches have developed their own means which remain separate.

They do not have televisions, but the Wizarding Wireless is the equivalent to Muggle radio. Their primary print sources of information are the Daily Prophet (a reputable newspaper) and Witch Weekly (a tabloid). The only real difference between these and any Muggle publication are the pictures, which move.

When it comes to taking pictures, it isn't the camera that causes the photos to move around. The film is developed in a special solution that allows people and animals in photographs to move around in their frames. Painted portraits, when charmed in a certain way, often take on lives of their own. They are capable of interacting verbally with their environments. They can also move from one location to another - if there is a portrait of the same Wizard in the living room and in the bedroom, he can travel between the two as he wishes.

Instead of telephones, most Wizards use the Floo network. By throwing a bit of Floo powder into a fireplace and sticking your head into it, you can call anybody else hooked up to the network. Small objects can be passed back and forth this way as well. Where transportable communication is concerned, some Wizards have taken to carrying compact mirrors and using them like modern day cellular phones. The Ministry of Magic in particular tends to distribute mirrors to its employees. This allows a department like the MLE to use them much like Muggle CB radios to stay in contact on missions.
