This class is offered only during the first year of enrollment in Hogwarts. Students are taught the very basics of flight - how to call the broom, how to mount, how to launch and land. They are also shown how to fly in basic formation. Those who show an aptitude for broomstick flying are often given a few pointers on how to perform certain tricks. The Professor who teaches this class traditionally serves as the Quidditch coach and referee for the games.
