The god or goddess is the person who is ultimately responsible for the MUSH's well-being. They serve as a manager and leader of the other staff members. They also have the ability to fire or discipline staff members as is needed. The god or goddess is voted in by the senior helpers. The god or goddess at any time can be called out by a staff member in a "vote of no confidence", where senior helpers can vote as to whether the current god or goddess should remain in office. For this vote, any senior helper who has not been a senior for a full seven days may not vote. The current god may vote. If the current god is voted out, typically they step down to a position as a senior helper unless a further vote sees them removed from staff entirely. Gods/Goddesses always retain a staff bit.
