Chargen, or Character Generation, is the process that one undertakes in order to create a character who is ready to join the IC world. Chargen has two steps; for a new player, it has three.

1. First, all characters must submit a completed profile to the staff in order to be reviewed. The directions and template may be found here.
2. Once an email profile has been approved, the character will fill out needed attributes on the MUSH, using their profile. See 'news approval' for more details. Then the character will reviewed and be allowed to go IC.
3. New players who have never had experience on Hogwarts Express will have their character placed on temporary watch after on-game approval. If there has been no serious trouble after 30 days, the character is formally approved.

Certain types of characters on the MUSH, such as Death Eaters or Ministry workers, are considered Feature or Special. The same applies to characters like Animagi or anyone wanting unique skills.
