There are 14 Quidditch teams in the league. Some of these are filled entirely with NPCs, but there are a few teams with PC slots. For a list of teams and open positions, click here. Speak to RP staff if you would like to play on one of these teams. Quidditch characters do not require any kind of special applications.
Adult Quidditch does not use the coded system. Although practicing and Quidditch points are still important, the outcome of these games are determined through team and player rankings and dice rolls.
Each team gets a bonus ranging from +6 to -7, from the top-ranked team to the lowest-ranked. Then the top 20 players each add bonuses to their teams: the top 5 add +3 modifiers, 6-15 add +2, and 16-20 add +1. Lastly, the teams are given bonuses based on their team members' average Quidditch Point totals. 310-340 is +1, 340 to 370 is +3, 370 to 400 is +6, 400 to 450 is +9, and 460 to 500 is +12. These modifiers are all added up.
A 1d100 is rolled for each team, subtracting their modifier from the total. (Low rolls are better! 1, 2, and 3 are considered critical successes and 98, 99, and 100 are critical failures.) So if Ballycastle has a total modifier of +13 and it rolls a 67, its actual roll is 54. The team that rolls lowest is the winner. Then more dice are rolled to determine the score.
- If Team #1 critically succeeds and Team #2 critically fails, the score is 1d20 goals + snitch catch to zero. (If they roll a 5, they scored 50 Chaser points, plus 150 for the snitch, for a total of 200 to zero).
- If Team #1 rolls anything other than a critical success and Team #2 critically fails, the score will be 1d10 goals + snitch catch to zero.
- A critical success success to any higher roll that is not a critical failure will be 1d20 + 10 + snitch catch to 1d20.
- If Team #1 rolls simply rolls better than Team #2, the score is 1d20 goals + snitch catch to 1d20 goals.
- Tied rolls, in the rare event that happens, is a tied game. These will always be 150-150 for simplicity's sake.
In this way, the outcome of the game is decided ahead of time. The numbers are passed around to the team members and the game is roleplayed out as normal.
Not all adult Quidditch games are RPed. Keep an eye on the +events board to find out when they're happening.
