The Ministry of Magic is an active and vibrant environment for roleplay, with options that could easily suit your character, whatever their skills or interests, ranging from diplomat to law enforcement to human resources. We encourage Ministry characters to get involved in day-to-day RP. While RP staff does tend to include some part of the Ministry in most plots and scenes, the best way to get to know your coworkers is sometimes through a simple conversation at the coffee machine. It's also a good idea to RP with people outside of your department. This gives your character a greater pool of contacts and resources - plus, between major plots, you still have people to hang out with.

Remember minor fires crop up every day. It's perfectly acceptable to have your Muggle Relations character run up to an Oblivator and tell them you need their help with Little Timmy down in Surry who just got an eyeful of a giant spider. If you work in Human Resources, sharing an anecdotewith someone outside of Human Resources about an unnamed problem employee or a candidate for their department you want their opinion on is perfectly acceptable. Just use your imagination like you would any other character and get a feel for playing an adult at work.

Within the Ministry of Magic there are a total of twelve larger departments, often overseeing smaller sub-departments and specialisations within them. They are as follows:

There is also a Ministry Executive Committee consisting of a member of each department.

You can also be affiliated to the Ministry of Magic without officially working for them. This network of informants, contractors, and specialists are called in on individual cases and can be found on the Ministry payroll. Contact adult world RP staff to get involved in this fashion.
