This Department is responsible for keeping tabs on and dealing with magical creatures. Magical creatures who obey the laws relating to them and don't make a nuisance of themselves will rarely come into contact with this department unless they specifically appeal to it for help in a case where they are being mistreated. More often, this department is dispatched to deal with Magical Creatures who are breaking the law or out of control. The creature is generally captured and returned to the Ministry for a hearing, whereafter they may be set free, imprisoned, banished, or executed. This department may also sanction owners of magical creatures who fail to keep their beasts under control. Any employee may be dispatched to deal with a crisis on the spot, from the lowest junior assistant to the head of the department.

However, if you are more interested in the care of creatures, the following can be substituted: Care of Magical Creatures, History of Magic, Potions, and Healing Arts if you're interested in directly caring for them or Charms if you work to protect their discovery from muggles.
