Muggle-Worthy Excuses is the department that plants stories in the muggle media. They accomplish this in a variety of ways, not limited to having a 'part-time' job at a muggle newspaper or having a few oblivious contacts who happen to be journalists on the muggle side. They work closely with the obliviators to ensure that their stories mesh with the memories implanted in those muggles who witnessed the event.

Excuse Trainee: Perhaps the title that catches the most flak within the Ministry of Magic, an Excuse Trainee will work under an experienced Muggle Worthy Excuses worker to hone their writing style. In addition, contacts to the muggle world in the form of newspaper editors, television and radio reporters, and other forms of media will be introduced. These people will not know that the wizard is, in fact, a wizard, but will casually get mentioned as a fellow writer or newsperson.

Muggle Worthy Excuses Expert: These people handle the local stories along with the 'fantastical' stories that get spun into 'Haha, would you believe it?' stories that people aren't expected to believe. Minor magical creature escapes, UFO sightings, giants walking down the road, and that sort of thing. They're expected to have developed a variety of writing styles and to have gathered contacts to make sure their story gets circulated in the local papers.

Senior Excuser: These people are responsible for the national and international stories that crop up on rare occasions. In recent days, these would include Death Eater and Dark Wizard attacks, major explosions, herds of magical creatures roaming muggle streets, and other such stories. They're also responsible for managing the division of work those who work under them to ensure a fair and equal workload. They also scan various muggle tabloids and newspapers for incidents that were missed and may need MAC's attention.

Head Excuser: Like the other heads, they are completely in charge of their department. This individual doesn't tend to handle anything other than the once-in-a-lifetime events in terms of actual stories written. Rather, they promote individuals from within the department, divide up the work among the Senior Excusers, and are the go-to, final authority on any sort of 'magical leak' to the muggle community.
