Hogwarts Express MUSH

When it comes right down to it, the adult world is significantly darker and more dangerous than the student half of the game. It's possible to avoid getting into nasty situations if you simply choose not to get involved in scenes involving combat and high levels of danger, but thematically the wizarding world is a pretty scary place to be right now. No one is truly untouched or unaffected by Voldemort's reign of terror.

Some GMed scenes use Rane's Quick & Dirty dice rolling system. Hogwarts Express does not have an official stat or combat system. Nevertheless, we have found that using dice in contested scenes (for example, Death Eaters and the Order of the Phoenix are going for the same artifact) helps everyone stay within theme and ensures that nobody is twinking or feels slighted. If you'd like to read up on the system you can do so here. Please note especially the 2 AK rule. If someone successfully hits you with a Killing Curse or does something else that would render your character unplayable (for example, something that might result in a Death Eater being captured by the MLE) you can instead choose that moment to bow out of the scene. If you stay, the GM will treat this as your consent to death or capture; the next lethal hit will count.

ICA=ICC is enforced far more stringently in the adult area, especially with characters such as Death Eaters or Ministry members. It's crucial that you try to play intelligently and maturely and keep the channels of OOC communcation open between yourself and other players, not to mention the adult world RP staff. There is nothing wrong with stepping OOC for a moment for a sanity check or asking an RP staff member to help you figure out the possible consequences of an action before you take it in order to ensure you won't limit your RP down the line when you get hit with ICC you didn't want.

Our RP staff strives to be flexible and to keep characters in play as long as possible, but there does come a point when they get to rule that a Death Eater's cover is blown, or that someone is killed or captured. The staff reserves the right to observe ICC in this area and make this determination. We will always do our best to work with players, but there is a limit to what is reasonable or thematic.
